Top Family-Friendly Cities in Canada

Canadians are some of the most friendly people in the world. Canada is filled with awe-inspiring national parks, pristine coastlines, a diversity of cuisine, and many outdoor-focused adventures.

Kids grow up extremely fast, and their interests change quickly. Yet, Canada stays the same and has a plethora of fantastic places that are family-friendly. We put together a list of the top family-friendly cities in Canada.

Ottawa

There are many great places to live in Ontario, including Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. At the heart of everything is Parliament Hill, featuring Victorian architecture, political centers, and museums like the National Gallery of Canada. The Rideau Canal is filled with boats in the warmer months, and once the cold weather comes around you can expect it to be filled with ice-skaters and warm pastries. Ottawa is known as one of the most educated cities in the country, as it is home to high-profile universities such as the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Home prices are on the rise in Ottawa, as multiple offers and quick closes are becoming the new norm for real estate in the city, it’s a seller’s market. Even so, the average home prices are still more reasonable compared to other major metropolises in Canada. Due to stable employment numbers and an influx of people from less affordable cities, Ottawa is continuing to grow and develop.

Halton

It’s no secret that the Halton Region is growing. Over the last several years the region has welcomed an abundance of new businesses, buildings, and of course people. Halton Houses for Sale continues to challenge prospective buyers who are grappling with limited inventory and high prices. With that said, the Halton Region of Southern Ontario will inject $4.3 billion into infrastructure projects over the next 10 years to help provide clean drinking water, ease traffic movement and build sustainable communities for a better quality of life. By investing for today and tomorrow, Halton will continue to be a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.

Montreal

In a 2017 study, it was revealed that Montreal (and Quebec cities at large) accounted for the most affordable childcare services across Canada. Montreal was named the least expensive city for full-time infant care, with parents paying fees of $168 per month on average. The vibrant island city along the St. Lawrence River in Quebec is an incubator for some of Canada’s biggest artists and musical talents. Icons like Leonard Cohen, Celine Dion, and Arcade Fire are just a few of the many legends who hail from there. If there’s the one-party city in Canada where you should head out on a night out in the town, choose Montreal for a great night out without the kids.
